K K Shreedhara

K KShreedhara, living in New Delhi, born and grew in "temple town" Kumbakonam, South India which is surrounded by a traditional and deep culture of art and Carnatic music. I started doing rangoli & kolam decorations from a young age. I grew up loving and being inspired from Chola bronze works, stone sculptures, traditional wall paintings, beautifully built temples, lotus ponds, the lush greenery, temple festivals, classical music concerts, the landscape and the lives and livelihood of traditionally cultured people. Born in the silk sari weaving Sourashtra community, from my childhood I got exposure of colour sense, beauty of the traditional motifs and scale.

Exhibitions: Participated in state and national level exhibitions and group shows. Participated in Kala Mela in 2018 and 2019.

Award & Recognition: Awarded from Victoria Technical Institute, Chennai for collection of paintings in 1983. Selection and purchase of my artworks by Modern Art Gallery, New Delhi.

Honoured by Vice President Shri B.S. Shekhawat and Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh in 2004 for creating portrait of Tamil Freedom fighter and poet, SubbramaniaBharathiyaar which now is on display at the Parliament Central Hall.

Academics: Completed schooling from Kumbakonam, did Diploma in Fine Arts from Government College of Arts and Craft, Kumbakonam and then Post Diploma in Fine Arts-Painting from Government College of Arts, Chennai.
